American doors

I have been wondering something for a while now. American front doors opens inwards. Why? I mean if you look at how "easy" it is to kick up a door that opens that way... Just why? Here the front doors opens outwards. Try to kick in a door like that. It's just not possible. Unless you get big and green when you're mad. I wonder who can give me an answer on this? I really want to know.
